Basketball Game Preview: Culver Academies Eagles vs. Peru Tigers

The Culver Academies Eagles will square off against the Peru Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Culver Academies took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 50-38 victory over Lake Forest Academy.

Meanwhile, Peru waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wildcats, sneaking past 46-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted since February 28, 2024.

Culver Academies better keep an eye on Gavin Eldridge. He was instrumental in Peru's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Eldridge's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Xavier Turner was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 14 boards.

Peru smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Culver Academies pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Peru, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
