Basketball Recap: Valley Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

Valley hadn't done well against Opelika recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Rams managed a 53-48 win over the Bulldogs. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 60-18 victory the Bulldogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2022.

Valley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayden Dooley out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 24 points and nine rebounds. Dooley's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jamiah Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.

Valley's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Opelika, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will host Handley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Opelika, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Enterprise at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
