Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Eufaula

While Eufaula put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Abbeville. The Tigers put the hurt on the Yellowjackets with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jade Barnett made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Layla Nowlin was incredible, going 1-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Lynn, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Eufaula always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Abbeville only posted an OBP of .250.

The victory (which was Eufaula's fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-18. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Abbeville, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Looking ahead, Eufaula will welcome Pike County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Abbeville, they will take on Charles Henderson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
