Baseball Recap: Walton-Verona Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walton-Verona entered their tilt with Nicholas County on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Bluejackets. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bronson Corpus was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Hurles, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.

Corpus wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Walton-Verona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Walton-Verona's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Nicholas County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Walton-Verona will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Ryle at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nicholas County, they will venture away from home to take on Newport at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Newport has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.75 runs per game on average), something Nicholas County will no doubt try to take advantage of.
