AJ Giberson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Jacob Hedrick was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Owen Cotta, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Morse hit Gardiner with a six-run second inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Shipbuilders, falling 11-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Shipbuilders: they've now lost four in a row.
Gardiner saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Madore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.
Gardiner's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lincoln Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8-1.
Gardiner's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Lincoln Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gardiner, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Lincoln Academy keep running through batters, or will the Tigers buck the trend?
Lincoln Academy beat Gardiner 10-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Tigers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
