Oregon City is a perfect 10-0 against Lake Oswego since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pioneers will be playing at home against the Lakers at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Oregon City's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Lake Oswego has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
On Wednesday, Oregon City sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over Tigard.
Ellie Joseph spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Allie Oliver was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Lake Oswego can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Lakeridge.
Lake Oswego also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ava Beach gave up five earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kaiya Carnegie, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Sloane Morris was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Lake Oswego was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeridge only posted a batting average of .259.
Oregon City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Oswego, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 7-10.
Oregon City skirted past Lake Oswego 2-1 when the teams last played last Monday. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
