Basketball Recap: Wickenburg Takes a Loss

Wickenburg won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Monday. They took a blow against the North Valley Christian Academy Lions, falling 78-28. Having soared to a lofty 59 points in the game before, the Wranglers couldn't push the score so high this time.

North Valley Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zathan Ruffin, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Rodriguez, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Wickenburg has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for North Valley Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wickenburg will face off against Kingman Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Valley Christian Academy, they will square off against Scottsdale Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Valley Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 64.4 points per game this season.
