Baseball Recap: Durant Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Durant ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against the Tahlequah Tigers by a score of 10-7. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by exactly three runs.

Jackson Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Durant is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Williams was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

In other batting news, Durant got a massive performance out of Aiden Diviney, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Durant is undefeated when Diviney posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Lucas McClure was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Durant and bumps their season record up to 5-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Tahlequah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Durant will have a chance to go back-to-back against Tahlequah: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
