Baseball Recap: Maryville Has No Trouble Against Sevier County

Maryville came out on top against Sevier County on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Red Rebels were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Smoky Bears. The Red Rebels haven't had any issues with the Smoky Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Max Coleman looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Maryville is 5-1 when Coleman allows three or fewer hits, but 13-14-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Trey Carico was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last nine games. Aj Mohn was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Maryville's record is now 18-15-1. As for Sevier County, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-16.

Coming up, Maryville will square off against Halls at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Sevier County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
