Softball Recap: Knightstown Panthers vs. Lapel Bulldogs
Knightstown had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-5 to make it five. They lost 11-1 to the Lapel Bulldogs. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 16-5 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Knightstown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Fausnaugh, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
As for Lapel, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-2. Considering they have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Lapel's side, Karlie Jannings was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Jannings was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delaney Balser, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Paige Stires was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Knightstown will challenge Cowan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Lapel, they will head out to take on Hagerstown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
