Basketball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. Jimtown Jimmies

The Elkhart Lions will head out to challenge the Jimtown Jimmies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkhart is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Elkhart duked it out with Lawrence North on Saturday. Elkhart was outmatched by Lawrence North and fell 76-24. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Wildcats are ranked ninth).

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Jimtown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They snuck past Argos with a 48-44 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jimmies.

Jimtown's win came from a few key players Elkhart will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Will Spurgeon, who posted 12 points and five steals. That's the most steals he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Javen Jackson, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 10 points and three steals.

Elkhart's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Jimtown, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Elkhart came up short against Jimtown in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 53-45. Can Elkhart avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
