Baseball Game Preview: Greenfield-Central Cougars vs. Muncie Central Bearcats

The Greenfield-Central Cougars will challenge the Muncie Central Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Greenfield-Central hasn't scored more than two runs for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

On Thursday, Greenfield-Central came up short against Shelbyville and fell 5-2.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Muncie Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Wapahani, sneaking past 4-3. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bearcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Logan Campbell made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Muncie Central is 2-1 when Campbell allows one or fewer earned runs, but 3-18 otherwise. Campbell was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Campbell wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gage Emberton, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Muncie Central's record is now 5-19. As for Greenfield-Central, they now have a losing record of 12-13.
