Soccer Game Preview: Palmer Ridge vs. Mead

The Palmer Ridge Bears will head out to take on the Mead Mavericks at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Palmer Ridge will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Palmer Ridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Thomas Jefferson a 2-0 shutout. Given Palmer Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Thomas Jefferson are ranked 119th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lilli Hawkins and Sadie Williams scored both of Palmer Ridge's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, Mead hasn't lost a match since April 6th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Mavericks who were credited with the win. Mead got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Thompson Valley's three.

Palmer Ridge's record is now 14-1-1. As for Mead, their record now sits at 8-3-4.

Palmer Ridge got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Mead by a conclusive 5-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
