Baseball Recap: Riverview Starts off Right with Win over Blake

Riverview gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Blake Yellow Jackets. The victory continues a trend for the Sharks in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won five in a row.

Driston Marino tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Jan Carlos Rodriguez was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Brady Rebello, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Riverview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blake only posted an OBP of .200.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverview will face off against Middleton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blake, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
