Game recap: Chapin high school football team shuts down two-point conversion attempt to defeat Lower Richland

Two missed two-point conversions cost Lower Richland (Hopkins, S.C.) as it fell 14-12 to Chapin (S.C.).

After trailing 7-6 at the half, the Diamond Hornets went ahead on a touchdown run with 8:00 left in the third. Chapin finally took the lead for good as Barrett Charpia thew a touchdown to Alex Young with 1:00 to go in the third quarter.

CHS expanded its lead to two points entering the fourth quarter. The Eagles scored once in the quarter on a Charpia touchdown pass to Young.

Chapin's standout player in the win was Charpia. He threw two touchdowns.

Coming into the game CHS had allowed 22.1 points per game this year.



The defeat comes as a step back for Lower Richland, which notched a 44-20 victory over Camden in its previous outing. The loss snapped Lower Richland's 2-game winning streak.

Chapin (4-5) will play a non-conference game against Columbia next week, while Lower Richland (3-5) will take on Flora in a AAA Region IV game.
