Softball Recap: Millis Mohawks vs. Norton Lancers
Millis had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 4-12 to make it four. They lost 9-0 to the Norton Lancers. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Mohawks haven't been shut out since back in April.
As for Norton, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 18-1-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by six runs or more this season.
For Norton's part, Liana Danubio was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Danubio has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, CeeCee Goodwin was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Paige Donahue was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Millis will challenge West Boylston at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Mohawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Norton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
