Game recap: Havelock never lets up in victory over Washington

Havelock (N.C.) kept up a steady attack all game long to beat Washington (N.C.), 34-7, on Saturday.

After taking the lead on a Derrell Scott touchdown run in the first quarter, the Rams led 28-0 at the half.

Havelock expanded its lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. HHS scored once in the quarter on a Pharoh Cooper touchdown run.

With the win the Rams extended their winning streak to five games. Havelock defeated the Vikings 41-14 last week.

HHS's standout player in the win was Cooper. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.

The Pam-Pack's lone touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.



Washington came in surrendering 13.3 points per game this season. WHS struggled against the Rams' offense, which entered the game scoring 48.3 points per game. Havelock came into the game allowing 15.5 points per game. The Pam-Pack's seven points were well below their season average of 24.5 per game.

HHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 41-7.

Washington (4-3) goes up against White Oak in a 3A Coastal game matchup next week, while Havelock (6-1) locks horns with South Central also in a 3A Coastal game.
