Basketball Recap: Jackson Gurgel leads Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg to victory over Mulberry Grove

Basketball Recap: Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg vs. Mulberry Grove Aces

Even though the Mulberry Grove Aces scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg still came out on top. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg snuck past the Aces with a 64-58 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

It was another big night for Jackson Gurgel, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Connor Manhart, who scored 16 points.

Despite the loss, Mulberry Grove still got an impressive performance from Landon Sugg, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds. Sugg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Scoggins, who scored 15 points.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg's win bumped their record up to 13-15. As for Mulberry Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mulberry Grove, they will head out on the road to challenge the at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
