After only two runs in their last matchup, Estrella Foothills made sure to put some runs up on the board against North Canyon on Friday. The Wolves' pitchers stepped up to hand the Rattlers a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Michael Wax looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Josh Vargas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Estrella Foothills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Landon Sloan, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

The victory got Estrella Foothills back to even at 8-8. As for North Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Estrella Foothills will be taking part in a tournament against Northwest Christian at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wolves 3.9, the Crusaders 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for North Canyon, they will be playing at home against Paradise Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Rattlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
