Recap: Trinity Christian Academy Lions vs. South Gibson Hornets

After flying high against the Tipton-Rosemark Academy Rebels on Friday, the Trinity Christian Academy Lions came back down to earth. Trinity Christian Academy suffered a rough 54-30 loss at the hands of South Gibson on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Trinity Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while South Gibson is ranked 67th).

Despite the defeat, Trinity Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Mary Grace Cleek scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Cleek posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallory Arnold, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.

Trinity Christian Academy bumped their record down to 4-14 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for South Gibson, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Trinity Christian Academy and Fayette Academy will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Fayette Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday. As for South Gibson, they will be playing at home against Gibson County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
