Softball Recap: Macomb Comes Up Short

Macomb was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the Beardstown Tigers. The Bombers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Macomb saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordyn Shoopman, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Shoopman hit this season. Another was Olivia Whitney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Macomb's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Beardstown, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.

Macomb didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-6 loss against Quincy on the 12th. As for Beardstown, they have also already played their next game, a 7-6 defeat against Illini West on the 11th.
