Basketball Recap: Wellborn Panthers vs. Jacksonville Christian Academy Thunder
Wellborn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 73-60 to the Jacksonville Christian Academy Thunder. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 89-85 back in December of 2024.
Jacksonville Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Lee out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 boards. Lee has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times he's played. Jesse Gannaway was another key player, putting up 25 points in addition to six boards and five assists.
Wellborn's loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Jacksonville Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, both will both be playing Weaver the next time they take the court. Wellborn will host Weaver at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Jacksonville Christian Academy will head out to face them on Saturday.
