Basketball Recap: Ponca City Takes a Loss

Ponca City lost against Putnam City back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Ponca City Wildcats were dealt a 76-36 defeat at the hands of the Putnam City Pirates. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the Pirates are ranked 21st).

Ponca City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Tavionne Akers, who posted ten points and five boards, and Thomas Putman, who scored four points.

Ponca City has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Putnam City, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Ponca City has already played their next matchup (against Union), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Putnam City, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-30 win against Mustang on the 7th.
