Recap: Murray Spartans vs. Hillcrest Huskies

The Murray Spartans waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 52-46 win over Hillcrest. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Murray also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.

Murray's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deacon Poole, who scored 12 points along with six assists and two steals. Poole hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Quinton Christman, who scored 14 points along with four steals.

Hillcrest lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Miller, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Rhett Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Murray is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. As for Hillcrest, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Murray will be playing in front of their home fans against Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Jordan focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday. As for Hillcrest, they will head out on the road to square off against Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Stansbury knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Hillcrest likes a good challenge.
