Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

Hillcrest lost against Juan Diego Catholic back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hillcrest Huskies fell 50-38 to the Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest still got an impressive performance from Amelia Lepore, who posted 14 points. Emily Mandel was another key player, putting up six points along with six boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Hillcrest smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Hillcrest has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Juan Diego Catholic, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will square off against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Juan Diego Catholic, they will take on Summit Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Juan Diego Catholic is facing Summit Academy at the right time seeing as Summit Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
