League recap: Cordova tops Kingsbury to extend winning streak

AAA District 14 recap October 22, 2013

Cordova extended the longest winning streak in AAA District 14 this week by beating Kingsbury, 50-22. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Bartlett was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. The Panthers vanquished Bolton 21-20 earlier in the week.

Hunter Sheffield threw for 225 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 18-25 with 1 interception.

Tavon Banks made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Wildcats fell to Bartlett. The 5-foot-8 defensive lineman forced 1 fumble.

Sheffield put up the best numbers through the air as Arlington defeated Millington Central. Sheffield's favorite target this week was Mitchell Everett, who caught 10 passes for 92 yards.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Marquis Ward. The Cordova star has 34 catches for 630 yards.

Accruing a total of 18 touchdowns this year, Sheffield has thrown for 1,851 yards with 6 interceptions.

The Tigers and the Trojans played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Tigers eventually emerging with a 38-37 victory. Sheffield during the win.
