Basketball Recap: Newark Takes a Loss

Newark was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Hodgson Vo-Tech Eagles and fell 60-5. The Yellowjackets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-4.

Hope Smith was nothing short of spectacular for Hodgson Vo-Tech: she went 5 for 9 en route to 14 points and four steals. Marissa Isbell was another key player, going 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points and three steals.

Newark's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hodgson Vo-Tech, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Newark didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-15 loss against Brandywine on the 13th. Hodgson Vo-Tech has also already played their next game, a 42-34 win against DuPont on the 14th.
