Recap: Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Taft Toreadors
Even though the Cleveland Cavaliers have not done well against the Taft Toreadors recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cleveland was the clear victor by a 79-53 margin over the Toreadors. Given Cleveland's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 233rd, while the Toreadors are ranked 923rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cleveland found their leader in underclassman TJ Wansa, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Souljah Niles, who scored six points along with four steals.
Cleveland is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Taft, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-21.
Cleveland won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Centurions at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Saugus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully the Cavaliers likes a good challenge. Birmingham has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 516 points over their last eight matches.
