Basketball Recap: Nehemiah Smith's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Tri-State Christian over Unity Christian

Tri-State Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 53-39 to the Unity Christian Knights. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-42 back in December of 2024.

Tri-State Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Nehemiah Smith, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Sam Fernandes, who posted seven points and five steals.

Unity Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nathan Woessner, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Woessner is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Grant Heun was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine boards.

Tri-State Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Unity Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.

Tri-State Christian has already played their next matchup (against Galesburg Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Unity Christian has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Quad Cities Christian.
