Baseball Recap: Central Linn Cobras vs. Crosshill Christian Eagles
Central Linn extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-15 in the process. They lost 11-3 to the Crosshill Christian Eagles. The Cobras were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 8-3.
Daine Offutt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
As for Crosshill Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games.
On Crosshill Christian's side, Miles Lute made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). Lute has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Crosshill Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Carter Hinderks was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Koontz, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
