Basketball Recap: Manor New Tech Takes a Loss

Manor New Tech was the 64-44 winner over Marlin when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Manor New Tech took a 50-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marlin Bulldogs on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Manor New Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1179th, while Marlin is ranked 458th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Marlin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordan Womack, who posted 20 points and five assists. Womack continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Aarik Smith-Shelley was another key player, putting up 13 points and five blocks.

Manor New Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Marlin, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manor New Tech will take on Travis at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Marlin, they will face off against Riesel at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
