Recap: St. Anthony's Friars vs. St. Mary's Gaels

Even though the St. Mary's Gaels scored an imposing 65 points on Friday, the St. Anthony's Friars still came out on top. St. Anthony's walked away with a 73-65 victory over St. Mary's. Given St. Anthony's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while St. Mary's is ranked 481st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Anthony's found their leader in underclassman Kevin Moore, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. Connor Mannix was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.

St. Anthony's has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

St. Anthony's will head out on the road to challenge Holy Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Anthony's is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 59.5 points per game this season. As for St. Mary's, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kellenberg Memorial at 2:00 p.m. on February 11th. St. Mary's knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Kellenberg Memorial likes a good challenge.
