Baseball Recap: Merit Preparatory Academy Comes Up Short

Merit Preparatory Academy extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They lost 21-0 to the Intermountain Christian Lions. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lions from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

As for Intermountain Christian, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

For Intermountain Christian's part, Coy White was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, White is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Intermountain Christian got a massive performance out of Brayden Bogle, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Bogle a new career-high. Stratton Humphreys was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Intermountain Christian will head out on the road to challenge Utah Military Academy - Camp Williams at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Merit Preparatory Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Lions' match: after the Lions face off against the Marauders, they'll take on Merit Preparatory Academy again at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
