Basketball Recap: Lincoln Northeast Comes Up Short

After flying high against Blue Springs South last Friday, Lincoln Northeast came back down to earth. The Lincoln Northeast Rockets had to suffer through a 71-24 loss at the hands of the Lincoln North Star Navigators. The Rockets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

Despite the defeat, Lincoln Northeast saw an underclassman step up: freshman Brynna Renard posted seven points and five boards. Renard is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Lincoln Northeast's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Lincoln North Star, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Lincoln Northeast will take on Benson in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln Northeast is facing Benson at the right time seeing as Benson is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lincoln North Star, they are taking a road trip to take on Lincoln High at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.
