Softball Game Preview: University Lab Cubs vs. St. John Eagles

The University Lab Cubs will head out to square off against the St. John Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on University Lab, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, University Lab turned things around against Plaquemine on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Green Devils with a sharp 13-6 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cubs, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, St. John has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.2 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They fell just short of St. Michael by a score of 10-8. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

The win got University Lab back to even at 12-12. As for St. John, their defeat dropped their record down to 19-6.

University Lab suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to St. John in their previous meeting back in March of 2021. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
