Softball Recap: East River Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

East River owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Osceola Kowboys by a score of 4-0. For the Falcons, this counts as revenge for the 13-3 victory the Kowboys walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2022.

Not much got past Katherine Sanchez, who gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Osceola off the board. Sanchez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Tru Mastro was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Gaby Angueira, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

East River has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Osceola, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East River will challenge Windermere Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lakers will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. As for Osceola, they will take on Melbourne at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Kowboys' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
