Softball Recap: Wickenburg Wins Going Away Against Combs

Wickenburg was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Combs on Friday. Wickenburg put the hurt on Combs with a sharp 21-3 win. The contest marked the Wranglers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Wickenburg let Tylee Buchert and Brynlee Meister run wild. Buchert went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Meister scored four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those five RBI gave Buchert a new career-high. Kaytlyn Lopez was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Wickenburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .812. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wickenburg has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. Combs' defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-9.

Wickenburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-5 victory against Tempe on the 21st. As for Combs, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 18-16 win against Dysart on the 24th.
