Softball Recap: San Ysidro Takes a Loss

San Ysidro entered their contest against Hilltop on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars came up short against the Lancers, falling 16-2. The matchup marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

San Ysidro saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Rosales, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

San Ysidro suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 7-4. As for Hilltop, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7-1 record this season.

San Ysidro will look to defend their home field on Monday against Chula Vista Learning Community Charter at 4:00 p.m. The Cougars are facing the Cobras at the right time seeing as the Cobras are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hilltop, they will face off against Montgomery at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Aztecs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.47 runs per game on average), something the Lancers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
