Volleyball Recap: San Ysidro Cougars vs. Rock Academy Warriors

San Ysidro was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Rock Academy Warriors. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 2-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.

While San Ysidro ultimately came up short, they really made Rock Academy work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 26-24, 19-25, 25-10.

Natalia Perez paced San Ysidro's offense, picking up three kills. Perez got some help from Asyiah Moore and her five assists. Kristine Fadriquela controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Leading Rock Academy to victory were Daniella Lara and Ocean Tice. Lara had 14 assists and five aces, while Tice had nine digs and six assists. Those nine digs gave Tice a new career-high.

San Ysidro's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Ysidro will venture away from home to take on Vista at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Rock Academy, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Hilltop at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
