Softball Game Preview: Williams Bulldogs vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles

Williams is 0-10 against Eastern Alamance since March of 2017 but things could change on Friday. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Williams has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Williams came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 18-1 to Southern Alamance. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Eastern Alamance, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Western Alamance on Tuesday, sneaking past 6-4.

Delani Straughan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kayden Manning, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Jones Stewart also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Eastern Alamance's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Williams, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Williams suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Eastern Alamance when the teams last played back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
