Basketball Recap: Knoxville Catholic Takes a Loss

Knoxville Catholic lost against Alcoa back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish received a blow as they fell 68-49 to the Alcoa Tornadoes.

Loss or not, Knoxville Catholic got some senior leadership from Amaya Redd and Maggie Frana. Redd went 8 of 20 en route to 22 points and eight rebounds, while Frana posted 11 points and five rebounds. That was a full 44.9% of Knoxville Catholic's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Khloe Cook, who put up five points.

Knoxville Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Alcoa, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Knoxville Catholic and North Greene will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Alcoa, they will be taking part in a tournament against Booker at 3:35 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Booker's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
