Flag Football Recap: Mountain View Toros vs. Hamilton Huskies
Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mountain View couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They lost 28-3 to the Hamilton Huskies on Saturday. The matchup marked the Toros' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Even if they lost, Mountain View's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: LUCIE McGRATH, GINNY WILSON, and EVE DENTON, who each picked up one sack apiece.
A big part of Hamilton's win came down to the chemistry between Marlie Phillips and her top target Samaya Taylor-Jenkins. Phillips threw for 338 yards and four TDs while completing 75.7% of her passes while Taylor-Jenkins picked up 175 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Phillips is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as she's now passed for three or more in each of the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Markiah Riley, who picked up 40 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Mountain View's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5. As for Hamilton, their victory bumped their record up to 19-0.
Mountain View does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hamilton, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 35-14 win against Marana on the 19th.
