Volleyball Game Preview: Cardinal Newman Crusaders vs. Dwyer Panthers

After both having extra time off, the Cardinal Newman Crusaders and the Dwyer Panthers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Cardinal Newman is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pine Crest just ended the team's nine-match winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Dwyer suffered their biggest loss since September 11th on Tuesday. They lost 3-0 to Jupiter.

Dwyer took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-17, 25-22.

Dwyer's defeat dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Cardinal Newman, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.

Cardinal Newman beat Dwyer 3-1 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Panthers' Samantha Homberger, who had 38 digs and two aces. Now that she won't be playing on Monday, will it be easier for the Crusaders to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
