Basketball Game Preview: Eureka Vandals vs. Wells Leopards

Eureka is 8-2 against Wells since February of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Eureka Vandals will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wells Leopards at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wells will be up against a hot Eureka squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Eureka really took it to Lund for the full four quarters, racking up a 53-4 victory. With the Vandals ahead 36-4 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Megan Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 9 for 15 on her way to 18 points in addition to seven steals and six rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Mckay, who went 6 of 11 en route to 12 points and six steals.

Eureka smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Wells got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They put the hurt on Carlin with a sharp 54-29 win on Thursday. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Leopards just coasted through the last quarter.

Eureka pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 39.5 points. As for Wells, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.

Eureka strolled past Wells in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a score of 51-36. Will Eureka repeat their success, or does Wells have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
