Volleyball Recap: West Jefferson Comes Up Short

West Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Mt. Carmel Cubs, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

The final score came out to 25-6, 25-3, 25-14.

Mt. Carmel can attribute much of their success to Marley Watson, who had 13 digs. Those 13 digs gave Watson a new career-high. Gabrielle Locascio was another key player, hitting 93.8% for 15 kills and five digs and four aces.

West Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Mt. Carmel, they pushed their record up to 25-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. West Jefferson is set to challenge their familiar foe John Ehret at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Mt. Carmel will face off against rival Riverdale at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
