Baseball Recap: Crookston Victorious

Crookston had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 4-6 to make it four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Thief River Falls Prowlers, sneaking past 10-9. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Pirates considering their two-run performance the match before.

As for Thief River Falls, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 2.93 runs allowed.

For Thief River Falls' part, Landon Wikert was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Kelly, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Crookston has already played their next game (against Goodridge/Thief River Falls), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Thief River Falls will be paying especially close attention to the Pirates' match: after the Pirates face off against the Huskies, they'll take on Thief River Falls again at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
