Baseball Game Preview: Port Isabel Tarpons vs. Hidalgo Pirates

Port Isabel is 1-8 against Hidalgo since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Port Isabel will be playing in front of their home fans against Hidalgo at 6:00 p.m. Port Isabel has given up an average of 12.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Port Isabel is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game dating back to last season on Saturday. They came up short against Valley View, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, Hidalgo waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Bobcats get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Brent Ian Szczuroski was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Larry Guzman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Hidalgo's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Port Isabel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
