Softball Recap: High Tech SD Takes Down Mountain Empire in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, High Tech SD rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They blew past the Mountain Empire Redhawks 18-7. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won eight matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

Ruby Parkin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Parkin was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (three).

In other batting news, Alexa Aranda was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with three runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Grace Gallagher, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

High Tech SD kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory got High Tech SD back to even at 10-10. As for Mountain Empire, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-3.

As of now, neither High Tech SD nor the Redhawks have any future games scheduled.
