Basketball Recap: Telluride Victorious

Nucla came into Friday's match looking for another win against Telluride, but Langston Silbergeld wouldn't allow it. The Telluride Miners came out on top against the Nucla Mustangs by a score of 70-60 on Friday thanks in part to Silbergeld, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave him a new career-high.

Nucla lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brycen Rummel, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Rummel has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 24 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Austin Garvey, who had 16 points.

Telluride now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Nucla, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Telluride will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ouray at 4:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Nucla, they and Dove Creek will face off at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Nucla is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.
