Softball Recap: Southwest Sets Scoring Season-High Against Southwest Legacy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Southwest). They put the hurt on the Southwest Legacy Titans with a sharp 18-3 victory on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won six in a row.

Southwest got a massive performance out of Isabela Gutierrez, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits Gutierrez has posted since back in March. Erin Piedra also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Southwest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwest Legacy only posted an OBP of .294.

Southwest's record is now 16-8. As for Southwest Legacy, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Southwest is set to face off against their familiar foe McCollum at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 3.2, the Cowboys 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy will take on rival Jay at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
